How is the high price of gas affecting you as an entertainer?
Are you taking less "out of towners" or just raising your prices? How are you coping with the situation?
The Cruise Industry is in particular peril. Not only are fuel surcharges raising passenger ticket prices, but most cruisers have to fly to get to (and from) the ship's port of embarcation - a double whammy!!
We are waiting to see how the Cruise industry reacts. Will they fly entertainers between ships less often ? Or use less entertainers...
Troubling times all over....

For me I bought a honda Civic Hybrid and have had zero trouble getting to most of my gigs in and around Nashville getting 40 mpg.
BUT.....I could not even believe it yesterday though when I spent almost $40.00 filling up my little car with 10 gallons of precious gasoline !
The entire world is going to be changing radically for a while where this is concerned.
As far as the Cruise entertainers are concerned...... I think there will be fallout as well.
Rather than spending $2,000.00 flying me in and out of Capetown for a gig that only lasts a week I think that they are going to be keeping me out longer and spreading their travel costs out over three or four weeks. ....Maybe longer.....
The good news is that I will actually be out alot this year ( perhaps...lol...)
The bad news is that fewer entertainers will be working because we will not be revolving as much....
What does the forum think?

Hi Jim, I work pimarily in the NYC, CT, NJ area with trips so far this year toi London, Paris and the west coast. yes I drive, just did a gig in MA with a van and assistants and gas cost me $88 round trip, plus the van rental was $558, and then tolls at $20. So...I built all that into my price and still came out ahead, but, it sure makes one wince because this is not going to ever change I think. i read the papers of the world and no one has any answers. We are at war with the peiople supplying us in part! I do less out of town gigs andtake public transportation I am finding. Great site. Thanks for doing it.
